Dog Halloween Costume Cape Fights Storm Fears Barking
How to make a Dog Halloween SuperHero Cape that helps with Storm anxiety

Giving your dog a Dog Halloween Costume of one of your favourite Superman / BatMan or other Super Hero’s will not only provide you with amazing memories and photo’s, it might also also make him more relaxed during thunderstorms. A product called StormDefender has been released in the US which claims to do exactly that. In this post I will explain some of the research behind it and show you how to modify a Pet Halloween costume to accomplish a similar result. I wouldn’t have believed it if there wasn’t some sound scientific facts behind it!
“Research shows that dogs sense the static charge buildup before a thunderstorm. This same charge, if it gets big enough, produces lightning. Knowing that, it makes sense for dogs to be afraid and seek shelter. It is an “early warning” system for lightning.”
“Dogs naturally try to escape the static charge by moving toward items that are electrically grounded. Many thunderstorm-phobic dogs seek shelter in the basement, around the toilet, shower, tub or near pipes. They also may try to hide or get underneath something. Favorite spots are often the bathtub (if made of porcelain coated cast iron) or the car. When properly used, Read the rest of this entry »

Take Your Doggie Trick-Or-Treating This Year
Why let the humans have all of the fun. Dog Halloween costumes have taken front stage in many areas. Whether you want to dress your dog to match you or to compliment your costume dressing up your dog can be fun.
Hotdog costumes are great if you have a dachshund. What list would be complete without this obvious suggestion? Foam can be used for the bun and a stripe of either ketchup or mustard (or both) can be created with fleece and attached to a vest. This vest will hold on the bun.
Bunny rabbit costumes are cute for little dogs. They can wear a head band with bunny ears and a big fuzzy tail to complete this look. Dressing up dogs as other animals is fun and always gets a good reaction from spectators.
Black cat costumes for your dog are cute, especially if you are dressing up as a witch. A hat with cat ears can make your dog into a cat for Halloween.
Super hero dogs work well. The outfit is put on the front legs and around the neck of the dog and a cape goes across the dogs back. This look will be sure to be a hit at your Halloween party.
Yoda dog costumes are good for Star Wars fans. The way your dog walks with a Yoda costume on his front legs and neck adds to the charm of this costume.
Clown costumes are great on dogs.
The eagerness to please makes your dog a perfect candidate for a clown costume in the first place. Putting your dog in a big collar, maybe even bottomless shoes so your doggy will look like he is wearing big clown feet but he can still walk and perhaps a pair of pants will be a great way to start this look off. Adding a bouquet of balloons to his collar will add to the look.
The costume ideas for pets are just about as limitless as human costume ideas. If you want to pull your dog into the fun you might as well dress him up and have him go to the party with the kids.

Halloween is a fun time of year for children of all ages-and all species. For those of you who are pet lovers you might already know that you can find creative cat and dog Halloween costumes to make the holiday even more special for you and your furry friend. If this is something that you are interested in there are a few different options that you can look into to learn more about the topic. The first suggestion would be to search online to get an idea of what you would like to dress your pet up as. You can also go to the larger pet stores to see what they might have to offer you for information on the subject.
Once you know what type of creative costume your want for your pet you will need to decide what you will use for accessories. If you are planning on having your cat be a dog for Halloween you might want to have him wear bones made out of paper around his neck. Just something simple and cute like that would work. Why not have your pet’s costume match the theme as your children’s? Your little girl could be Bo Peep while your black lab could be her lost sheep. Looking for an idea that is a little more complicated? Have your son be Elliot and your rat terrier can be E.T. the alien. The most fun part about Halloween is that you get to let your imagination and creativity run wile.
If you are planning on taking your old pooch “trick-or-treating” with the family you will want to take this into consideration, does the costume work well with a collar and leash? You wouldn’t want something tragic to happen to your beloved friend on such a joyous evening. In the even that you might be out past dark you should put reflective tape on the collar and leash of your pets. You could also purchase these accessories that are made for doing such activities in the dark. Also, make sure the costume fits properly. Too small of a costume could be hazardous to your pet because it might not allow your pet to move as easily. If danger where to head your way your pet might not be able to get out of the way in time due to the restrictions. Always be sure to never leave your pet unattended while in a costume. An animal can easily become tangled up while wearing a costume and this could lead to serious injuries or even death.
You can shop for your cat or dog Halloween costume at most pet stores. Online is another option for shopping. Many pet suppliers have catalogues that you can have shipped right to your door to look through. You will be able to mail in an order or even make a purchase online. Making your own costume is another possibility. You can find free patterns or patterns for a relatively low cost online or at fabric stores. Whichever method you decide to use to allow your pet to join in on the fun is up to you. Just be sure to have the perfect fit for the safety of your pet. Don’t forget to give your pet a couple treats, too.

Photo Contest for Best Dog Halloween Costumes
I just love this article posted September 15, 2008, on: the Dogchannel.com
Not a lot of companies can call them selves the number 1 in number #2’s… lol What is interresting is that the company doesn’t sell its own Halloween costumes at all…
Howl-O-Ween Pet Photo Contest Returns
Best dog costume winner gets free pet-waste removal service and dog food.
A company that proudly bills itself as “#1 in the #2 business” is kicking off its third annual national “Howl-O-Ween” pet costume photo contest. Pet Butler, a pet waste removal service, encourages U.S. pet owners to show off photos of their dogs in creative costumes.
The grand-prize winner – Overall Best Costume – gets three months of free yard cleanup service (one visit per week) and a 40-pound bag of Life’s Abundance dog food from HealthyPetNet. The contest also recognizes second- and third-place entries in Overall Best Costume as well as winners in the categories of Cutest Costume, Most Photogenic, Scariest Dog, and Cutest Group photo.
Voting is open to the public. Winners will be announced in late October 2008, just before Halloween. All entries will be posted on the company website by Oct. 17.
Are you interrested in participating?
I believe the best strategy would be to get a costume that really fits with your dog, and not necessarily the one you think is the coolest.
What costume would you get your dog to wear?
