I’ve always been a fan of illusions and trick photography and will be showing some really good examples that you can use over Halloween or any special event to create great memories with your Toddlers, Teens or even the Big Kids…

Recently in the UK percil (a local washing detergent) showed an ad which uses Trick photography and something called “forced perspective” which really creates awesome illusions of size.

The basic idea is that objects that are closer to you are larger than those further away, and by forcing a certain perspective by placing your camera near the ground for instance, a near perfect illusion is created.

I was thinking that this year instead of just taking normal photo’s of friends in Halloween Costumes, to rather try some of the Trick photography ideas.

Some examples of Trick Photography:

Total Domination:

They go on to explain further how the illusion was created:

The picture was taken sometime during Hugh’s days at Camp Yonahnoka, where he took his first photography course in 1934 and served the following five summers as the camp’s photography instructor. It’s a good example of Morton’s appreciation for visual humor, something I’ve noticed throughout the collection.

Here’s another example with a different feel

Here is the Best Trick Photography Video’s that I’ve been able to find online.

If you like the Video’s below you will jsut love this book.

I’ve purchased this book from Amazon and can really recommend it:

Trick Photography for Halloween Costumes

It shows all kinds of really cool ideas, some of which I could find no example for online…

None of them use some of the really cool techniques shown in the book. I’ll take some photo’s at Halloween and upload them when I get a chance.

Have fun taking photo’s of your kids and friends in Halloween Costumes with your newly acquired Trick Photography Skills.
